Terms of Service
Last updated: 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the website at myteacherjohn.com and the online English lesson services (the "Service") provided by Teacher John ("we", "us", "our"). By booking a lesson or otherwise using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. The Service
Teacher John offers one-on-one online English lessons delivered by video call. Lesson lengths, availability, and prices are shown on the booking page and may be updated from time to time.
2. Eligibility and account information
You must be of legal age in your jurisdiction to purchase a lesson, or have the permission of a parent or legal guardian. You agree to provide accurate contact information when booking so that we can deliver confirmations, reminders, and the video call link.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the Service, including by:
- using it for any unlawful purpose;
- engaging in fraud, spam, harassment, or abusive behaviour;
- infringing anyone's intellectual property or privacy rights;
- interfering with the security or integrity of the Service (for example, probing, scraping, or attempting to introduce malware).
4. Intellectual property
All materials produced or provided by Teacher John during lessons — including lesson plans, worksheets, recordings, and branding — remain the property of Teacher John. You receive a limited, non-transferable right to use those materials for your personal language learning.
5. Payments, billing, and refunds
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Payment terms, billing, taxes, and refund mechanics are governed by the Paddle Buyer Terms and by our Refund Policy.
6. Cancellations and rescheduling
You can cancel a booked lesson using the cancellation link in your confirmation email. Refund eligibility is described in our Refund Policy. We may cancel or reschedule a lesson in the event of illness, technical failure, or other circumstances beyond our reasonable control; in that case you will be offered a reschedule or a full refund.
7. Service availability
We aim to keep the Service available and reliable but do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Video calls depend on third-party software and your own internet connection.
8. Disclaimers and liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
9. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service for material breach of these Terms, non-payment, security or fraud risk, or repeated policy violations.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
